Hormone Care Guided by Your Labs, Not Guesswork

Hormones influence energy, sleep, mood, body composition, libido and long-term health. When levels shift, whether from menopause, perimenopause, aging or a medical condition, the symptoms can be easy to dismiss and hard to live with. At Dominion Health Hormone & Wellness in San Antonio, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) starts with a conversation and a lab panel, and it is only prescribed when a physician decides it is clinically appropriate for you.

Our clinic is part of Dominion Health, a San Antonio physician group that has cared for local families for years. That means your hormone care is connected to experienced Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians, not a standalone online storefront.

What Is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

HRT uses prescription hormones to bring low or imbalanced levels back into a healthier range. Depending on your needs, therapy may involve estrogen, progesterone or testosterone, delivered as creams, injections, patches or pellets. The goal is to relieve symptoms while keeping risks as low as possible, which is why the dose and method are tailored and reviewed over time.

HRT for Women in San Antonio

Many women look into HRT during perimenopause and menopause. Common reasons include:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Mood changes or irritability
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort
  • Low libido
  • Brain fog and fatigue

HRT isn't right for everyone. A history of certain cancers, blood clots, stroke or liver disease can change the options. Your physician reviews your history and labs, explains the benefits and risks, and helps you decide.

HRT for Men: Testosterone Therapy

For men, hormone therapy most often means testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). If you have symptoms such as low energy, reduced drive, loss of muscle or low mood, along with lab results confirming low testosterone, TRT may be an option. Learn more on our Testosterone Therapy (TRT) page and our guide to low T symptoms.

How HRT Works at Dominion Health

  1. Consultation. Tell us about your symptoms, history and goals.
  2. Lab work. We check the hormones and health markers relevant to you. A male hormone panel is $149.
  3. Physician review. A physician goes over your results with you and recommends a plan, or explains why HRT may not be the right choice.
  4. Start treatment. Eligible prescriptions can be shipped to your door.
  5. Ongoing monitoring. Repeat labs and check-ins, many by telehealth, let us adjust your plan safely.

Bioidentical Hormones

"Bioidentical" hormones are structurally identical to the hormones your body makes. Some FDA-approved products are bioidentical, while some compounded versions aren't FDA-approved. Your physician will explain the difference and which options fit your situation.

Risks and Side Effects

Every medication has trade-offs. Depending on the hormone, side effects can include breast tenderness, bloating, spotting, acne, mood changes or changes in red blood cell count. Some therapies carry risks related to blood clots or certain cancers. We monitor you regularly and want you to report any concerns right away.

Pricing

Pricing depends on the therapy. For men, the Core TRT plan is $199/month with a 3-month commitment. See TRT cost in San Antonio for details. Pricing for women's HRT depends on the therapy your physician recommends and is reviewed with you before you start.
