Wellness Injections With Physician Oversight
Vitamin B12 and NAD+ are two of the most requested wellness injections. At Dominion Health Hormone & Wellness, they're offered as add-ons with a physician's review, so you know whether an injection makes sense for you, and what it can and can't do.
Vitamin B12 Injections
Vitamin B12 is essential for healthy red blood cells, nerve function and DNA. Your body can't make it, so it comes from food such as meat, fish, eggs and dairy, or from supplements.
Who may need B12? B12 deficiency is more common in:
- Adults over 50
- People on a vegetarian or vegan diet
- People taking metformin or acid-reducing medications long-term
- People who have had weight loss surgery
- People with conditions that affect absorption, such as pernicious anemia or Crohn's disease
Signs of low B12 can include fatigue, weakness, numbness or tingling, memory problems and anemia. A blood test can confirm deficiency. For people who are deficient, injections are a well-established treatment. For people with normal B12 levels, the evidence that extra B12 boosts energy is limited.
### B12 / MIC
Some patients ask about B12 combined with MIC (methionine, inositol and choline). These are sometimes used alongside a weight loss plan. They aren't a weight loss treatment on their own, but may be part of a broader program like our GLP-1 weight loss program.
NAD+ Injections
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell. It helps turn food into energy and supports cell repair. NAD+ levels decline with age, which has made it a popular subject of healthy-aging research.
What we know: NAD+ is essential to metabolism, and lab and animal research is promising. What we don't know yet: human studies of NAD+ injections are still limited, and benefits for energy, focus or aging haven't been firmly established. We share that honestly so you can decide.
What to expect: NAD+ injections can cause temporary flushing, nausea, cramping or a feeling of pressure during or after the injection. Starting low and going slow helps. Tell your physician about any medical conditions and medications first.

Who Should Not Get These Injections?
Tell us if you have a cobalt or B12 allergy, Leber's disease, kidney disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take medications that may interact. Your physician will decide whether injections are safe for you.
